Michael Gormley just doing his thing again: The real money behind this year's budget (AP)... 4/12 I generally hate the AP but Gormley is one of my favorite news writers.

THIS IS WHAT BARACK OBAMA THINKS OF YOU:
"You go into these small towns in Pennsylvania and, like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them...And they fell through the Clinton Administration, and the Bush Administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations." When later called on it: "Out of touch? Out of touch? I mean, John McCain -- it took him three tries to finally figure out that the home foreclosure crisis was a problem and to come up with a plan for it, and he's saying I'm out of touch?... Senator Clinton voted for a credit card-sponsored bankruptcy bill that made it harder for people to get out of debt after taking money from the financial services companies, and she says I'm out of touch? No, I'm in touch. I know exactly what's going on. ... People are fed up. They're angry and they're frustrated and they're bitter."
I don't dabble in national politics much anymore on this site but this is ridiculous. This arrogant schmidglek has no clue how we think, what we believe in or why we believe in. "Great uniter" my endside.

Is a Tim Horton's coming to Ellicottville? According to the Ellicottville Villager and WPIG, "The Village Planning Board in Ellicottville expressed no opposition Tuesday to a proposed Tim Horton's Restaurant, but they do want a traffic study before setting a public hearing." 4/9 I guess the bigger question is why Cattaraugus County's little slice of Canada hasn't received a Tim Horton's yet.

Holy crud: Paterson plans to slash next year's budget by 10% because this year's plan is too bloated and we can't rely on the taxpayers anymore (New York Post)... 4/9 Good luck with that. I say that in both a sincere and somewhat sarcastic manner, because we're going to need all the help we can get to get that proposal through.
